4 Simple Reminders for a Better Work-Life Balance

Home is usually a place of rejuvenation and enjoyment especially for people who are used to working in a traditional workplace outside of home. With the coronavirus’s impact on our work environment, homes are no longer a place of just relaxation, but a place where you work. In the process, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain a successful work-life balance.

Though many have settled into a new routine, the work-life balance may still be off. Here are some reminders that can help you improve your work-life balance and maintain good health:

1.     Make Sure Your Workspace Still Works for You

You’ve allocated a place for yourself in the house for work, perhaps renovated that space by adding a comfortable office chair, an ergonomic desk, and other accessories to help boost your productivity and keep you motivated throughout the work day. Is it still working for you or do you need to make adjustments now that you have a better idea of how your space feels?

2.    Stick to Your Schedule

The flexibility of home working can tempt you to procrastinate. To combat this, designate time to work, time to relax, and time to do house chores. This way, you can improve your efficiency, get tasks completed quickly and have more time to do the things you enjoy.

3.    Be Sure to Take Those Breaks

Get up to grab a glass of water, a cup of coffee, or something to munch on. Most importantly, take that well-deserved lunch break! Remember, skipping meals can cause a drop in blood sugar, slow down your metabolism and make you feel sluggish.

4.    Night Owl or Early Bird

You may choose to work late at night or early in the morning when at home because that is when the surroundings are quiet and there is nobody to disturb you. As long as your employer allows for a flexible schedule, choose a routine that helps you maintain the remote work-life balance.

Spending time with your loved ones and being efficient in your work can be challenging, both physically and mentally. These simple reminders can help, and for more information about safety and wellness contact one of our risk management specialists at PMC Insurance Group or info@pmcinsurance.com.
