Insurance Broker / Producer

PMC Insurance Group is looking for an organized, energetic, and detail-oriented Sales Broker/Producer/Underwriter to report into our Bedford, MA office (remote and hybrid options available upon circumstances). This individual must be a team player who is a self-starter with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.

The Broker is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with Commercial Retail Agents and Insurance Companies, to generate a profitable book of business within a designated territory. The environment is fast paced, dynamic and entrepreneurial, and each PMC team member must possess and exhibit the following characteristics: honesty, integrity, ethical behavior, commitment, professionalism, collaborative participation, and a positive attitude toward all aspects of business.

Essential Responsibilities/Functions

  • Develop, maintain and cultivate new and existing retail agency relationships to increase new business opportunities and success. This would include outlining PMC’s value and differentiators to our clients and prospect; establishing long-term relationships with these stakeholders
  • Requires the ability to successfully build and manage both the retail agency and carrier relationships, negotiate on the behalf of the client, analyze exposures and market appetites, underwrite, review sales and market analytics for new opportunities, lead and grow a book of business
  • Achieve and sustain new business results that meet or exceed established goals for premium production, retained income and underwriting profit
  • Secure a comprehensive knowledge of our carriers appetite, underwriting guidelines and systems
  • Exercise sound decision making skills and the ability to bring creativity to underwriting risks while maintaining profitability to the book
  • Negotiate with insurance carriers on individual accounts to provide competitive terms and coverage to secure the “bind” order
  • Proficient at working in a high volume/faced-pace environment with multiple deadlines
  • Define and monitor successful sales and marketing strategies in cooperation with firm's initiatives
  • Ability to recognize new trends and developments in the insurance industry and be able to incorporate them into your strategy
  • Represent the firm in a professional manner with clients and business partners
  • Complete other duties as assigned

General Skills & Requirements

P&C Licensed, or must secure insurance license with 120 days of hire or placement in position

  • General insurance and Worker’s Compensation knowledge, prefer 5+ years
  • Capabilities must include complete marketing and brokering skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to adhere to a deadline
  • Works well within a team and independently
  • Ability to take ownership of work and see each task through the process to completion, accurately in a timely fashion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to write business correspondence
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business reports and to make independent decisions
  • Must be able to solve problems and deal with multiple tasks within a fast paced environment
  • Maintain travel schedule depending on the needs of our business partners
  • Ability to work extended hours when necessary
  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
