Associate Broker

As an Associate Broker you will work within our Regional Team supporting the PMC Regional Managers/Brokers and their appointed agents on accounts under $50,000 and others as assigned.

In this position, you are responsible for the qualification, underwriting and negotiation of new business opportunities through the selling cycle from pre-submission data gathering through the binding process of an insurance policy.

You will be an integral member of the sales/underwriting team by providing support within established standards and priorities; ensuring all related activities are delivered in a manner consistent with our customer service focus, quality, and timeliness.

Essential Responsibilities/Functions

  • Work with PMC’s Regional Leader and/or Regional Brokers to assist in working with agents to increase opportunities and success. This would include outlining PMC's value and differentiator in the Workers’ Compensation market; establishing long-term relationships with these agents
  • Knowledge of PMC carrier’s appetite, underwriting guidelines, and systems
  • Pre-underwrite submissions to ensure underwriter has a complete detail submission to make quick underwriting decisions
  • Work with agents on eligibility and general underwriting procedures
  • Weekly Review meetings with PMC’ Management to monitor submissions metrics, carrier issues, successes, barriers, agents of opportunity, agents with limited return etc.
  • Review submissions for completeness and eligibility
  • Follow-up with agents on submissions/quotes to determine what is needed to be successful/bind
  • Rate prospective insurance applications through online insurance carrier rating engine, when needed
  • Communicate with agent to obtain completed information to bind and complete file
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Agents to become a trusted partner
  • Correspond with carriers regarding status of submissions/quotes for new business prospects
  • Create documents and correspond via email with Agents and carriers through PMC database program
  • Assist with Marketing Activities: Agency Visits and Email Marketing initiatives
  • Complete other duties as assigned


This position will play a vital role in increasing business within the assigned Region, by more diligently underwriting and closing on accounts, while at the same time allowing the Regional Leader and Regional Brokers to develop new and deepen current agency/agent relationships more thoroughly.

  • Growth of Regional business by higher level of touch and more involvement on closing deals
  • Efficiency for the PMC Regional Leader and Regional Broker, to allow for deeper relationship building and ultimately more submission of all sizes
  • Streamlining processes for improved responsiveness and faster turn-around times
  • Monitor and accountability toward KPI’s (Quote:Bind ratios, Submission:Bind ratios, Rating Efficiency etc.)

General Skills & Requirements

  • P&C Licensed (or will obtain the license within an agreed upon timeframe)
  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • General insurance and Worker's Compensation knowledge, preferably 3+ years
  • Attention to detail and ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Works well within a team and independently
  • Ability to take ownership of work and see tasks through each step in the process thru completion, accurately and in a timely manner
  • Analytical thinking and aptitude for evaluating and interpreting detailed information & data
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people on a daily basis in person, via telephone and email
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment
  • Good organization skill
  • Positive, upbeat, and professional attitude with customers and co-workers
