4 Tips to Help You Stay Healthy at Work

Fighting to stay healthy at work? Add these tips to your arsenal!

Let’s be honest. Offices aren’t the healthiest place. Sitting indoors at a desk day after day can take its toll on your body. That is, unless you actively take steps to counteract the sedentary lifestyle the office encourages you towards. Ready to get serious about protecting your body and mind during the work week? Here are four tips to help you stay healthy at work.

  1. Get a lunch box. Even if your office provides workplace snacks, odds are they’re far from healthy. Avoid the vending machine! Make it easier for yourself to fight the temptation to indulge in sugary, processed food or something quick from the fast food place by your office by packing food. Stock your lunchbox with a filling lunch, but don’t stop there! Add some options to munch on through the day like nuts, carrots, or an apple.
  2. Get a water bottle. If coffee and work go hand-in-hand in your mind, it’s time to do some mental reprogramming. Give your body the liquid it needs by investing in a water bottle to keep at your desk. Buy a bottle that measures out ounces to make sure you’re hitting the recommended daily intake. Not sure how much to drink? Half your body weight and you’ve got the number of ounces of water you need each day.
  3. Get out of your chair. Sitting is extremely bad for us. Make it a point to get out of your chair as much as possible, whether that means taking a walk on your breaks or elevating your computer on a few books so you can stand and work.
  4. Get inspired. Take care of your mind, too! Add some inspiration to your workspace. Put up a few photos of people or places you love or pin up an inspiring quote. A plant or fresh flowers can also help wake up your desk.
