Get Involved this Small Business Saturday

Making sure you have the right small business insurance is just one of the steps in preparing for Small Business Saturday.

Small Business Saturday is an American retail holiday sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  This year, Small Business Saturday will take place on November 25th.  If you have small business owners as clients, then learn more about this event and offer them these suggestions.

Small Business Saturday was originally an event hosted by American Express as a way to garner consumer interest in local and small businesses.  One of the main goals of the event is to support the small businesses that are the backbone of the local and national economy.  If you have clients interested in getting involved with this year’s Small Business Saturday, there’s a lot they can do to prepare.  From creating promotional materials to having the right small business insurance, here are some tips to get them started.

1) Create Promotional Materials

One of the first things they should do to prepare for Small Business Saturday is create promotional materials for their businesses.  They should create fliers and posters that promote the event and announce their business’ participation in it.  To save some time, they can head to American Express’s website and use their resources to create advertising goods today.

2) Post on Social Media

Another way they can generate interest in their small businesses is by posting on social media.  If their businesses don’t already have a social media presence, then now is a great time to create a Facebook page and Twitter account.  Once they’ve made their accounts, they should make posts that announce their business’ participation in Small Business Saturday.  Remind them to use the hashtags #shopsmall and #SmallBusinessSaturday to tag their posts.

3) Host an In-Store Event

On the 25th, they should consider hosting an in-store event to get more customers interested in their store.  For instance, they could always go traditional and hold a Small Business Saturday sale.  Other fun ideas include offering customers seasonal refreshments or providing a free gift with every purchase.  Holding events in their stores will give customers extra incentive to check out their businesses.

4) Review your Small Business Insurance

Finally, before the big day arrives, advise your clients to take the time to review their small business insurance.  On Small Business Saturday, their businesses will probably receive more foot traffic than it usual.  They should make sure that they have the appropriate insurance protections to keep all their customers and employees safe.
